How ConvertAnyImage Works

Getting started

Drop any image onto the homepage — ConvertAnyImage detects the format automatically, reveals the converter, and lets you pick an output format. Hit Convert, then Download. That's it.

Supported formats

  • JPG / JPEG — Lossy compressed photos. Widest compatibility.
  • PNG — Lossless. Supports transparency. Good for graphics and screenshots.
  • WebP — Modern format. ~30% smaller than JPEG at equivalent quality.
  • AVIF — Next-gen. Best compression of all formats. May take a moment on large images.
  • GIF — Limited to 256 colours. Supports animation. Drop multiple files to create animated GIFs.
  • BMP — Uncompressed bitmap. Very large files. Chrome/Edge only for output.

File limits

  • Maximum file size: 50 MB per file
  • Maximum batch size: 300 MB total
  • Maximum files per batch: 100 files

Creating animated GIFs

Drop 2 or more images and select GIF as the output format. A frame rate slider appears — drag it to control animation speed. Hit "Create Animated GIF" to encode and download.

AVIF encoding

AVIF is the most advanced format ConvertAnyImage supports. The first AVIF conversion on a new device may take a few seconds to initialise — subsequent conversions are faster.

Why does BMP only work in Chrome?

BMP export relies on canvas.toBlob('image/bmp'). Safari and Firefox do not implement this encoder. We show a clear error message if BMP export fails in your browser. Use PNG as a lossless alternative.

Is my data private?

Yes. All conversion happens entirely on your device — no image data is ever sent to a server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Does it work offline?

After your first visit, ConvertAnyImage works offline for most conversions. AVIF output and animated GIF creation require an internet connection on first use.

What browsers are supported?

  • Chrome 90+ — Full support including BMP export
  • Edge 90+ — Full support including BMP export
  • Firefox 90+ — Full support except BMP export
  • Safari 15+ — Full support except BMP export
  • Mobile Chrome / Safari — Full support
